No Brasil, a década dos anos 1980 caracteriza-se por uma efervescência político-cultural, partir de eventos importantes, tais como o fim da ditadura cívico-militar, redemocratização do Estado brasileiro e epidemia AIDS. Nessa conjuntura social, Leila Míccoles Herbert Daniel publicam em coautoria um texto intitulado Jacarés Lobisomens: ensaio sobre homossexualidade (1983), qual debate, bem sugere subtítulo, questões gênero sexualidade.
